Think life as a question but live it as an answer.

The lifting of an arm or leg is magic.

The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried.

Tell the world your secret, but keep it from yourself.

Some of our best decisions aren't decisions.

The world is the medicine that cures me of myself.

Salt-water is and isn't the ocean.

My drug of choice is Yes.

Everything happens as if nothing happened. I'd call it a dream, but it's something much better.

Telling a willow not to weep only makes it weep more.

The key to every lock doesn't open any door.

Time does not pass, it continues.

  6. The last two sing loud and clear. But also the first one, then again...all of them. I'm still on blog break and it's heaven.

  7. But I really like that one:"Some of our decisions aren't really decision."
My only problem is that internet has become so noisy :) it becomes hard to distinct the voices :)

  8. Wow, Marty—you are seriously on a roll! I wish I could think of life in such a magical, lyrical way as you do—it’s such a great gift. Lucky us to be able to share in that gift of yours. Of course, as usual, I have my favorites that ‘speak’ to me in particular.

Think life as a question but live it as an answer.
Isn’t that a wonderful idea? Rather than question and worry—to simply experience and enjoy!

The lifting of an arm or leg is magic.
I am in awe of the human body! And the more I think about it, the more awed I become!

Some of our best decisions aren't decisions.
    Wow—that’s absolutely true!

My drug of choice is Yes.
I think we are all happier if we come from a place of yes. When we come from a place of no, it ties us up in knots.

Time does not pass, it continues.
This is certainly profound. Time continues, we pass and who knows what existence awaits us then? But time will continue.

    These are wonderful, Marty!

  19. Think life as a question, then scratch your head.

The lifting of an arm or leg is a nazi soldier.

The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already schizophrenic.

Tell the world your secret, and post it on Youtube.

Some of our best decisions arrive after scratching our heads.

The world is the placebo that cures me of myself.

Salt-water is and isn't the ocean. (I agree)

My drug of choice is the opposite sex.

Everything happens as if nothing happened. I'd call it a dream, but it's something much better. (Huh?)

Telling a willow not to weep only makes it weep more. (crybaby)

The key to every lock doesn't open any door. (Give it to me, please)

Time does not pass, it continues to enslave.

  24. I love the honesty of your words and always look forward to the next Aphorism to get a collection like this in the one post was incredible and inspiring. My favourite was The key to every lock doesn’t open any door, something I totally agree with. Keep up the great words my friend.

  26. Hi Marty, your aphorisms are as always food for my thoughts and if you don't mind I have interpreted them as you can see below: (HAHA..)

Think life as a question but live it as an answer.
(This is optimism and living life as it flows.)

The lifting of an arm or leg is magic.
(This is appreciation for the things that are mostly forgotten..)

The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried.
(This is about the state of being. Be receptive and joyful so that whatever news we hear we're not pulled down by melodramatic emotions? hehe)

Tell the world your secret, but keep it from yourself.
(Hmm, this one is a little confusing, not sure what I can derive from this, maybe you'll share your insight?)

Some of our best decisions aren't decisions.
( I agree with this one, as some of the biggest things in life come so naturally that we don't make a big deal out of it.)

The world is the medicine that cures me of myself.

Salt-water is and isn't the ocean.
(Something about being in this world, but not of it?)

My drug of choice is Yes. ( A matter of being optimistic, child-like with a sense of adventure!)

Everything happens as if nothing happened. I'd call it a dream, but it's something much better.
(It's a reverie while it's happening, maybe. hehe.)

Telling a willow not to weep only makes it weep more. ( Embrace the inner self so that what springs out of it is what it's destined to be.)

The key to every lock doesn't open any door.
( The door is already where you are, perhaps.)

Time does not pass, it continues.
( All things are a matter of perspective, which is subjective all the time.)

Peace and everything good your way,
    Shanaz

"My drug of choice is Yes." Certainly we must experience life in order to actually live it.

  39. The key to every lock doesn't open any door.

So wise. In fact, some doors don't open even once unlocked. You need something else to get through.

Time does not pass, it continues.

The present is related to the past and the future is a continuation to the present. Facts are made of consequences resulting from events taking place at moments in time. So everything that is happening or will happen is a continuation of what have passed.
Learn from the past and go ahead: That's what this aphorism is about.

Thank you Marty for sharing your wisdom. It's always a pure pleasure to read your aphorisms.

I have missed you and have been unwell so I haven't visited. All of the aphorisms above speak to me but the very first aphorism speaks to me most loudly.

    With much love,

  48. I'm utterly speechless...well not entirely:

Think life as a question but live it as an answer = Action speaks louder than words

The lifting of an arm or leg is magic = We are all amazing

The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried = today's anxiety of what may come tomorrow

Some of our best decisions aren't decisions = Some wise actions can come from just being spontaneous

The world is the medicine that cures me of myself = Why not stop being lonely or selfish and participate in the rest of this glorious carnival on planet Earth

Time does not pass, it continues = Time is immortal

    Thanks once again, my friend!

  53. Hi dear Mary, It is so good to read these. I've read a couple of pages here and just feel so grounded and alive from doing so. You really are magical....and so much more. You live your innate wisdom, and I deeply feel that wisdom in these expressions of YOU.

I really like this one: "The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried." This is wonderful confirmation for me because people often get upset because I don't watch the news, and if I DO see/hear it I am still so calm, and they feel I should be angry, worried, sad, etc like they are. You are so so wise. Every time I come here I am stunned by your depth of being. It's beautiful. Hugs, Robin

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hi dear Marty, just stopped by to see what you were up to. It's funny because when I read this batch the last time, totally different lines jumped out at me that did today.

Today this one just awed me to mystical proportions: "The lifting of an arm or leg is magic." Science could go into great detail as to HOW this happens, etc., but they would still not be able to tell WHY it happens. Just as they can go into great detail as to WHAT the galaxy is made of and how if functions, BUT they cannot tell us WHY it exists. I...LOVE...THAT!!! Let there always be Magic, Mystery and the Unknown.

Thank you for inspiring me today, Marty. That alone is great magic, my friend. Bless you, Robin
