Think life as a question but live it as an answer.
The lifting of an arm or leg is magic.
The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried.
Tell the world your secret, but keep it from yourself.
Some of our best decisions aren't decisions.
The world is the medicine that cures me of myself.
Salt-water is and isn't the ocean.
My drug of choice is Yes.
Everything happens as if nothing happened. I'd call it a dream, but it's something much better.
Telling a willow not to weep only makes it weep more.
The key to every lock doesn't open any door.
Time does not pass, it continues.

The first one is my favourite :)
ReplyDelete"Everything happens as if nothing happened. I'd call it a dream, but it's something much better."
ReplyDeletePessimism, meet optimism. I like it.
Time continues..... and onward I go into the happy abyss. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is "Time does not pass, it continues". So many good ones, it was a tough choice. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteThe last two sing loud and clear. But also the first one, then again...all of them. I'm still on blog break and it's heaven.
ReplyDeleteI love them all NP!!!
ReplyDeleteBut I really like that one:"Some of our decisions aren't really decision."
ReplyDeleteMy only problem is that internet has become so noisy :) it becomes hard to distinct the voices :)
Wow, Marty—you are seriously on a roll! I wish I could think of life in such a magical, lyrical way as you do—it’s such a great gift. Lucky us to be able to share in that gift of yours. Of course, as usual, I have my favorites that ‘speak’ to me in particular.
ReplyDeleteThink life as a question but live it as an answer.
Isn’t that a wonderful idea? Rather than question and worry—to simply experience and enjoy!
The lifting of an arm or leg is magic.
I am in awe of the human body! And the more I think about it, the more awed I become!
Some of our best decisions aren't decisions.
Wow—that’s absolutely true!
My drug of choice is Yes.
I think we are all happier if we come from a place of yes. When we come from a place of no, it ties us up in knots.
Time does not pass, it continues.
This is certainly profound. Time continues, we pass and who knows what existence awaits us then? But time will continue.
These are wonderful, Marty!
Melinda
awesome Marty. It has been a pleasure to get to know you through your work, your words, your brilliance.
ReplyDeleteThe key to every lock doesn't open any door.
ReplyDeleteI liked them all for this and that reason ... thanks
Hmmm...I'm particularly intrigued by that last one, kind of reminiscent of Faulkner's "The past is never dead. It's not even past."
ReplyDelete"Time does not..." and "My drug of choice is Yes"
ReplyDeleteLove these two!
"The world is the medicine that cures me of myself." Bitter or sweet or both at times...this is the medicine that works and allows one freedom from the world. Brilliant as always, Marty.
ReplyDeleteMy best.
Excellent!!!!

Eyes opener..as usual.
Thanks Marty for sharing.
God bless.
Marty, this time you've gone too far, I loved all of them!!! But the last one is simply brilliant and inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI can't even choose one to comment about! Actually, thats a lie...telling a willow not to weep...That really resounded with me.
ReplyDeletethis was lovely!
ReplyDeletefavorite line that simply oozed honest was:
"The key to every lock doesn't open any door."
inspiring and challenging. ♥
oh, and thanks for the kind comment on my blog. it made my bleary day just explode with optimism!
life is a long journey. Here everytime we fight to live better life.
ReplyDeleteThx for sharing this article
Think life as a question, then scratch your head.
ReplyDeleteThe lifting of an arm or leg is a nazi soldier.
The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already schizophrenic.
Tell the world your secret, and post it on Youtube.
Some of our best decisions arrive after scratching our heads.
The world is the placebo that cures me of myself.
Salt-water is and isn't the ocean. (I agree)
My drug of choice is the opposite sex.
Everything happens as if nothing happened. I'd call it a dream, but it's something much better. (Huh?)
Telling a willow not to weep only makes it weep more. (crybaby)
The key to every lock doesn't open any door. (Give it to me, please)
Time does not pass, it continues to enslave.
"Time does not pass, it continues"...Certainly
ReplyDelete"Think life as a question but live it as an answer".... the best way forward.
As always NP love your grt words of wisdom :)
Ciao NP! Again you did it again! Amazing bunch of aphorisms ^_^. I can't really pick one tho, but why would I if they are all good in their own way!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these with us :D
Take care and don't forget to look back every once in a while hehe.
*waves*
Time does not pass, it continues. What a lovely thought to mull over and over.
ReplyDeleteLife in abundance,
Susan
Excellent work. The questions and time issues are foremost in my mind. The real question today is one of love. How can we share and increase Love around the universe. Love is a good answer to any question in time. I love your work Marty.
ReplyDeleteI love the honesty of your words and always look forward to the next Aphorism to get a collection like this in the one post was incredible and inspiring. My favourite was The key to every lock doesn’t open any door, something I totally agree with. Keep up the great words my friend.
ReplyDeleteI can personally attest to the 2nd one, particularly after my shoulder surgery!
ReplyDeleteHi Marty, your aphorisms are as always food for my thoughts and if you don't mind I have interpreted them as you can see below: (HAHA..)
ReplyDeleteThink life as a question but live it as an answer.
(This is optimism and living life as it flows.)
The lifting of an arm or leg is magic.
(This is appreciation for the things that are mostly forgotten..)
The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried.
(This is about the state of being. Be receptive and joyful so that whatever news we hear we're not pulled down by melodramatic emotions? hehe)
Tell the world your secret, but keep it from yourself.
(Hmm, this one is a little confusing, not sure what I can derive from this, maybe you'll share your insight?)
Some of our best decisions aren't decisions.
( I agree with this one, as some of the biggest things in life come so naturally that we don't make a big deal out of it.)
The world is the medicine that cures me of myself.
Salt-water is and isn't the ocean.
(Something about being in this world, but not of it?)
My drug of choice is Yes. ( A matter of being optimistic, child-like with a sense of adventure!)
Everything happens as if nothing happened. I'd call it a dream, but it's something much better.
(It's a reverie while it's happening, maybe. hehe.)
Telling a willow not to weep only makes it weep more. ( Embrace the inner self so that what springs out of it is what it's destined to be.)
The key to every lock doesn't open any door.
( The door is already where you are, perhaps.)
Time does not pass, it continues.
( All things are a matter of perspective, which is subjective all the time.)
Peace and everything good your way,
Shanaz
"Telling a willow not to weep only makes it weep more." Also applied for women ;-) Great job Marty!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marty, for this June Anthology, when I read your aphorisms I'm glad to be human — I recognize myself in your words.
ReplyDeleteI am always so blown away by your work. I don't know how you keep coming up with such great words of wisdom day in and day out!?
ReplyDelete"My drug of choice is Yes." Certainly we must experience life in order to actually live it.
"Some of our best decisions aren't decisions" Being a stick riding down a river sounds like a lot of fun.
Indeed true that "Some of our best decisions aren't decisions." I've had some of it :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the BEST you've written.
ReplyDeletethough I love them all, this one is cake.
'Think life as a question but live it as an answer.'
ReplyDeletequestion = LIFE, life - f = LIE
(answer = LIVE, live - v = LIE)
lie + F = life, F=?
Marty Rubin... Thank you.
'Tell the world your secret, but keep it from yourself.'
ReplyDeleteThat's the nearest I can get to creativity
xh
It seems like an entire page (one..or make it two :)..] of my life. I allow myself to steal the beauty of them in my mornings. Do you mind?
ReplyDeleteAll the best!
XO
Yes Boss i like this post,
ReplyDeleteits true
Time does not pass, it continues
"Tell the world your secret, but keep it from yourself." is rather fine.
ReplyDelete"The world is the medicine that cures me of myself."
ReplyDeleteThe little things that humble us daily.
"Think life as a question but live it as an answer."
ReplyDeleteThis statement is powerful and it has warmed my heart and soul. Beautiful aphorism!
The key to every lock doesn't open any door.
ReplyDeleteSo wise. In fact, some doors don't open even once unlocked. You need something else to get through.
Time does not pass, it continues.
The present is related to the past and the future is a continuation to the present. Facts are made of consequences resulting from events taking place at moments in time. So everything that is happening or will happen is a continuation of what have passed.
Learn from the past and go ahead: That's what this aphorism is about.
Thank you Marty for sharing your wisdom. It's always a pure pleasure to read your aphorisms.
Wow Marty, you did it once again and this time I cannot pick any one as my favorites because each one is a gem and I loved all of them. Your wisdom is deepening by the day. I am blessed to have met you. Thank you so much for your wonderful words. I will read them again and again to enjoy them more. Much appreciation.
ReplyDeleteMarty, do these things come to you in your dreams? Do you have some famous person spirit guide who whispers them to you? OR are you just very very smart? You really make us think! I am jealous.
ReplyDeleteThink life as a question but live it as an answer.
ReplyDeletethank for this one again NP, it is indeed.
NP, thanks for opening the door for me, once again. It's always a marvellous experience. I appreciate an opportunity to see things in a different light.
ReplyDeleteI think of time differently. It is still and everything else moves, so we are passing time. I'd be curious to discuss with you further sometime.
I am glad you stopped by my site, as it reminded me too of your awesome writing.
ReplyDeleteThe wisdom you express is heart-moving. I totally resonate with your words and feel that we share a very similar view of life as we know it.
Thank you for stopping at my site too.
ReplyDelete"Time doesn't pass... it continues."
I loved that.
:)
"Time doesn't pass, it continues" is resonating with me as well. It captures well the picture of minutes infinitely extending both before and behind us.
ReplyDeleteHi Marty,
ReplyDeleteI have missed you and have been unwell so I haven't visited. All of the aphorisms above speak to me but the very first aphorism speaks to me most loudly.
With much love,
TiTi
I'm utterly speechless...well not entirely:
ReplyDeleteThink life as a question but live it as an answer = Action speaks louder than words
The lifting of an arm or leg is magic = We are all amazing
The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried = today's anxiety of what may come tomorrow
Some of our best decisions aren't decisions = Some wise actions can come from just being spontaneous
The world is the medicine that cures me of myself = Why not stop being lonely or selfish and participate in the rest of this glorious carnival on planet Earth
Time does not pass, it continues = Time is immortal
Thanks once again, my friend!
"The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried."
ReplyDeleteThis one speaks to me the most. My GOD what a lot of comments! You're keeping up the good work I see. How're you doing? Jess.
The one about the willow is beautiful. The one about worrying is so very true.
ReplyDeletefor me the concept of time is fluid.
ReplyDeletei also like the first one best.
Ah! this is just wonderful:
ReplyDelete"My drug of choice is Yes."
You are awesome...
Hi dear Mary, It is so good to read these. I've read a couple of pages here and just feel so grounded and alive from doing so. You really are magical....and so much more. You live your innate wisdom, and I deeply feel that wisdom in these expressions of YOU.
ReplyDeleteI really like this one: "The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried." This is wonderful confirmation for me because people often get upset because I don't watch the news, and if I DO see/hear it I am still so calm, and they feel I should be angry, worried, sad, etc like they are. You are so so wise. Every time I come here I am stunned by your depth of being. It's beautiful. Hugs, Robin
In between the gaps between the filing system and the concrete floor we can all go missing in action...
ReplyDeleteWow that was awesome it has me thinking now. Job well done
ReplyDeleteTo hate everything is to be wounded by everything.
ReplyDeleteThe lifting of an arm or leg is magic.
Salt-water is and isn't the ocean.
:)
First one and the last one...I can relate!
ReplyDeleteCertainly we must live life to answer the question about life.
ReplyDeleteNP, Although I am taking a break from blogging but I think yours and a few other blogs are an exemtion (secret).
ReplyDeleteHere is my favorite :
"Tell the world your secret, but keep it from yourself."
Best Wishes.
"My drug of choice is Yes." What should I do? Say yes again.
ReplyDeleteXO
Now, you are really going to make me think.
ReplyDeleteDarn and I thought I was done with hard work.
YES :)
ReplyDeleteThat first one is THE BEST! I have needed inspiration, now I have it. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteEach is a GEM!!! I mulled over each line for several minutes, before moving onto the next...
ReplyDeleteThis was really TOO GOOD!
Keep up the great work... and have a great weekend!
another necklace of diamonds- you are awesome.
ReplyDeleteTime does not pass...it continues... as does your remarkable capacity to stay consistent in tone and creative in output. A...(well, OK A minus.) My best.
ReplyDeleteWow! it is great and love it. keep up
ReplyDeletePieces of a life. Lives of a piece.
ReplyDeleteWalking into closed doors on purpose is definitely an OOC operations policy.
It is good to be back to read your aphorisms. They are salve to my mind. The thoughts your words provoke more thoughts and smiles.
ReplyDeleteI have missed your wit, humor and intelligence contained in your aphorisms.
love it all, but especially these two lines:
ReplyDelete'Time does not pass, it continues'
'Think life as a question but live it as an answer'
Wonderful! Best wishes from Romania!
ReplyDelete"Telling a willow not to weep only makes it weep more". That's why when I'm down, I force myself not to cry because when someone notices me, I can shed oceans of tears. You're so right again. NP! What really makes you tick is your talent of personalized aphorisms everyone associates with. Missed you!
ReplyDeletewow..Thanks for sharing this woncderful article. I think the world is round because it has so many hidden secret inside.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing these with us, I loved it

How do you come up with these aphorisms? :) I'm constantly amazed. In the right moment, these words could really do some serious damage.

WOW.. so true.. time doesn't pass.. it continues
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful truths looked at in a creative way! :-)
ReplyDeleteI read a novel years ago in which one character advised another, "Never tell anyone Everything about yourself." Always keep that little hint of mystery. Amazing how a few words can say so much.
ReplyDeleteHi dear Marty, just stopped by to see what you were up to. It's funny because when I read this batch the last time, totally different lines jumped out at me that did today.
ReplyDeleteToday this one just awed me to mystical proportions: "The lifting of an arm or leg is magic." Science could go into great detail as to HOW this happens, etc., but they would still not be able to tell WHY it happens. Just as they can go into great detail as to WHAT the galaxy is made of and how if functions, BUT they cannot tell us WHY it exists. I...LOVE...THAT!!! Let there always be Magic, Mystery and the Unknown.
Thank you for inspiring me today, Marty. That alone is great magic, my friend. Bless you, Robin
Very impressive words.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing!
ReplyDeletethe emotions your aphorisms are capable of conveying are simply indescribable!
Great Work!
The news wouldn't worry us, if we weren't already worried.
ReplyDeleteWhich is the very reason why there is war. Ah this one speaks to me clearly.
Not sure I agree with ALL of these, but all of them force me to think about it. Found you via Chewy, glad I did!
ReplyDeleteI just sent you a little traffic. 8-)
ReplyDeleteI am also enjoy visiting your great blog.
ReplyDeleteSome wonderful ones!! I DO think it's magic every time I get to move my arms and legs to run my favorite trails.
ReplyDelete"The world is the medicine that cures me of myself."
ReplyDeleteThis one is brilliant, Marty.
"Tell the world your secret, but keep it from yourself."
Hmmmm, there is something there :)
The world is the medicine that cures me of myself - Marty.
ReplyDeleteThe world is the medicine that can keep me from the danger of myself too.
Inspiring,love it mr Marty.
Awesome thoughts. Can't wait to read more!
