Some lives, like some remarks, only make sense out of context.

Words make known. But we live in the unknown.

Tell the truth. It's more disturbing than telling lies.

Rain is the picnic when it rains.

Press your lips to the fountain and drink life in.

Death is. That's its only excuse.

Priceless things are things you put no price on.

Real dishes break. That's how you know they're real.

He's the happiest who's happy with nothing.

Does it really matter who the fastest runner is?

New ideas are nothing new.

New ideas wind up on the same trash heap as the old ones.

The riddle we'll never solve is how to get along.

Blessed are they who expect nothing, for they'll be pleasantly surprised.

If you paint a black picture, the picture will be black.

God may be an atheist for all we know.

Humanity will never solve its problems as long as there are people around.

It is incredible the number of things I find not to take seriously.

Lovers of beauty can't be too discriminating.

If you're glad to be alive, the rest doesn't matter.

Cheer up. You don't have to do anything.

If you need a second to think, it's too late.

Miracles happen so often they become commonplace.

Bullets that miss the mark travel just as fast.

It's easier to draw a straight line than to straighten a crooked one.

All rabbits are not the same rabbit. Just as all Roberts are not the same Robert.

What costs me time costs me nothing.

A few names have survived oblivion. In time oblivion will have them all.

Art: a conversation through a locked door.

Boredom is the price one pays for not enjoying everything.

...Laugh-out-loud funny, Marty! Wonderful! Have you ever considered writing a list of such delightfully shocking beatitudes?

  6. I actually cut and pasted this list--there were quite a few that I really enjoyed. My favorites were:

Miracles happen so often they become commonplace.

  9. Reading you list. Again. Hope you do more.

As usual, you take triggers my take.

I read "Blessed are they who expect nothing. For they'll pleasantly surprised."

I smiled. Then an immediate twist came: "Blessed are they who expect nothing, for their expectations will be realized."

And "If you need a second to to think, it's too late." Again, I liked. Then tripped to:
"Don't people know? Being spontaneous takes time!"

And: "Miracles happen so often they become common place." And I was stopped. Right on.
    Great.

    Look forward to more.

And thank you for the comment posted on Notches. It brought me back for a re-read here.

  10. I should read this daily.

"It's easier to draw a straight line than to straighten a crooked one."

Would I not enjoy or, rather, gain more, from straightening the crooked line than drawing the straight ?

"The riddle we'll never solve is how to get along."

"Tell the truth. It's more disturbing than telling lies."

I must agree with you. I find that when writing about things that I have witnessed or experienced, the disturbing things, as I allow myself to relive those moments, after many years, I am still disturbed.

    Thank you for this.

For those people who are looking for the perfect church, they shouldn't join the perfect church when they find it because it will no longer be perfect...:)

I love the, "real dishes break..." It says so much about our paper plastic world, and our lives as well. You are so right - no matter what troubles we have in our lives, if we're to really live we must enjoy each day and find the pleasure in those moments.

  34. Hi Marty,

There are a few of you"r saying that I particularly, like "Tell the truth. It's more disturbing then telling lies", "Priceless things are things you put no price on", Maricles happen so often they become commonplace, but the one that intrigues me the most is : "Some lives, like some remarks, only make sense out of context."

I would say that about sums it up! I think form a spiritual point of view, that is the only way it makes sense. The Bible cannot make sense to the natural man(for he does not believe). The only things that can be understood by him is through the intellect or the 5 senses... But it is the "out of contenxt " pieces of out spritual walks that make the most sense of all to the believer.

Thank you so much Marty, for giving me this momement to ponder...
All Grace and peace to you in the love of Christ.
