NP,
ReplyDeleteWhat another lovely group of aphorisms! I so enjoy your writing. My favorites this time are:
When in doubt, leap. One needs a little courage to live. (I have always leapt in life--even when I should not have. I don't regret any of it any more though--and I would have leapt again).
Reasons are invented, not found. (Ain't that the truth!).
One must plant a seed and let "it" speak. (I love this also--this is what I do when I go into the prisons and talk to women about my life. I just try to plant a tiny seed and let that speak. Beautiful).
Melinda
wow this is another beautiful post...
ReplyDeleteReasons are invented, not found...how true is this.
I love your style
U are talking about reality of life. Very Nice. I wish u all the best.
ReplyDelete"Behind every mask there is a face and behind that a story"
ReplyDeleteThis is Lolita NP. Your blog warms my heart and mind. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
as always, well done. I especially like:
ReplyDeletePut on a red nose and baggy pants when the circus is in town.
it suits me :)
NP! Really thank you for sharing this! I can't wait to read the next post ^_^
ReplyDelete"You know you're on the wrong track if you're thinking too much."
I love that one! And in my case really true. Sometimes you just don't have to think that hard and you just have to let it come naturally!
Very inspiring, as usual. I think the one I like the most is "If you want to set your life in order consider it already done". Seems like a neverending task that we'd better just ignore.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff as usual.
ReplyDeleteI like the "Reasons are invented not found."
Inspiring!!
These are all very interesting
ReplyDelete"No river could flow if it had to know its destination first."
ReplyDeleteI love this. Just beautiful.
Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for another of your poems!! I to like both unicorns and horses, the imaginary and the real. Without both there is so little in life.
My favorite: You know you are on the wrong track if you're thinking too much. I takes awhile to understand this truth. It has taken me awhile to ge back to you.
ReplyDeleteMy back has prohibited me from blogging the last few days.Ihave to take medicine that makes it hard to work long at a time. I'm taking physical therapy and hope that will aleviate the need for another back operation which my heart doctor will probably not let me have because I have had three back operations in the last two years and my 73year-old 5-bypass heart won't stand the strain. So, please bear with me and I will get back as soon as I can. I had to change my carrier and internet provider, so I closed down the old Count Sneaky's Electric Notebook and opened up a new one:Count Sneaky's Journal at:countsneakysjournal.blogspot.com. It has the sme background ans slant but is a lot cleaner and easier to read.My best.
Friedrich Nietzche would be proud to have nihilist such as you as the best friend he never had...and your aphorisms makes you so "Human, all too Human."
ReplyDeleteThank you for your wisdom.

Last week there was a discussion thread regarding a BC member and the appropriate YouTube Video to go with them. I mistakenly put you with Mark Twain and I should have ( and did think of it the time too)put you with Will Rogers! Definitely Will Rogers!
ReplyDeleteLovely! My favorites:
ReplyDeleteIf you want to set your life in order consider it already done.
and
I like both: unicorns and horses.
You know you are in wrong track when you think so much,,, heheheh sounds familiar hehehe similar to "there is no right nor wrong, thinking makes it so"
ReplyDeleteHi Nothing Profound,
ReplyDelete"I like both: unicorns and horses" me, too!
"If you want to set your life in order..." heh-heh
"One must plant a seed..." yes, yes, yes
All great, as usual!
I'm going to try leave a comment again. It's an honor to be your friend and read your aphorisms. Numbers 2, 4, 7 and 13 are my favorites this time.
ReplyDeleteProfound truisms. So very insightful and rich... Thank you....
ReplyDelete"Behind every mssk there is a face and behind that is a story."
ReplyDeleteSums it up well for me. I am now realizing the "me" behind the mask, and through my words and images I am dedicated to telling my story.
Just came in from a 12-step program meeting. Counting my day one step at a time and being grateful. Heard a "quip" I hadn't heard before:
"At the center of Sin and the center of Pride, is "I". I have to move from "me" to "we" to truly survive."
I am paraphrasing but I needed to write it down.
Thank you.
There is just one problem...I don't like clowns...so then that would be very awkward of me to put on a red nose and baggy pants when the circus is in town... :) Frightful little things...those clowns are! :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel myself like the Altruist:-)
ReplyDeleteI love your aphorisms very much.
Thank you for invitation.
Genrietta
These are awesome! I'm sorry to have been away so long but life settles and I find time again. Hugs and thanks for visiting. :) I'm excited to read more of you.
ReplyDeleteSusan.
I love the one defining altruism. My father put it in less poetic words: "I f you want to have a soft heart, prepare to have a hard a**e...". That proved true to me as well. Aways enjoy popping here :-)
ReplyDeleteSimple, playful and provoking.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to how frequently you post, the saying 'it's quality not quantity' certainly rings true with you!
This is so good and in many cases so true thought provoking for me this morning.
ReplyDeleteDorothy from grammology

Reasons are invinted, not found.......that one is my favorite
ReplyDeleteI've printed these out to inspire me as I edit photos. Perhaps a marriage of your words and my images will result.
ReplyDeleteLayla AKA The Boomer Muse
I love taking these all in ....... and then doing it again.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your posts!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great set of thought provoking aforisms again. I especially love the one that says that 'experiences get along fine without the words' and the one to 'let the seed speak for itself'.
ReplyDeleteAt this moment my feelings toward 'words' and 'thoughts' are paradoxical to say the least. Indeed they often can not expres the real 'experience' or 'meaning' but they are very helpful in understanding things.
And I am glad that people like you are capable of using words in a way that speak directly to your 'soul' (as I have no other word for calling it) that do not need any logic to be 'true'.
Today on Twitter I saw another one in the same line that really clicked: 'Silence just said something. Don't lose it in translation'.
Big danger! Well, to me at least.
This one is my favorite:
ReplyDelete'When in doubt, leap. One needs a little courage to live". How true! having read this, I feel inspired and motivated to do more and take a step forward, or as you said, maybe actually leap!
Thanks for sharing this, its a beautiful post!
cool as ever dude, i like this especially -
ReplyDeleteYou know you're on the wrong track if you're thinking too much.
Shut up brain! cheers for the post.
Again, I enjoy reading your post! As I read I feel as if the line, "No river could flow if it had to know its destination first" captures the nature of how you may write. There's a lovely flow to it indeed.
ReplyDeleteWhen in doubt... Leap!
ReplyDeleteSo true:) I live that truth... I'm a model for taking chances and seeing what's next. You're brilliant as usual!
"Behind every mask there is a face and behind that a story."
ReplyDelete- i agree with this! because in every person lies a question and in every answer lies the truth! and yes marty! i am only 12. turning 13 on march of next year! can we be friends?
Words to live by, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the insights.
Awesome post!!! You are truly a wise man, dude. I hope you don't mind if I tweak some of your aphorisms...
ReplyDeleteExperiences for which there are no words should be as good as sex.
Behind every mask there is a face with a big pimple.
If you want to set your life in order consider Oprah.
Altruist: a person who wants to help people learn how to help themselves.
Put on a red nose and baggy pants then enter politics.
A blind man sees with his cane; an idiot declares war.
Keep it going Marty!!
This blog has found a wonderful niche. Enjoying all of your posts very much. And,I like both Horses and Unicorns, too : )
ReplyDelete"No river could flow if it had to know its destination first."
ReplyDeletefabulous and very strong to grasp the reader , i just love all your posts they are all unique and have something that makes them different from each other but the soul of all is same and that is N.P!
smiles...I love also..unicorns..and horses..
ReplyDeletenice posts.
"Experiences for which there are no words get along fine without them.
ReplyDeleteBehind every mask there is a face and behind that a story."
Spent some of my high school years as an American in Asia. These two really speak to the Chinese culture of Taoism where some things cannot be spoken but only experienced. The other is about how many "faces" people present like the public face vs. the private as there are about 12 levels of "faces" that the Chinese culture teaches.
Thanks for a great post, enjoyed it immensely since quotes, proverbs, sayings and parables are the core of a thinking society! Well done!
I really love and relate to this quote:
ReplyDelete"When in doubt leap. One needs a little courage to live."
I would even go so far as to say that courage is essential to not only live, but to live FULLY.
I love quotes and enjoyed this.
Thank you.
Robin Easton - Naked in Eden
PS sorry it say "earth" I'm having trouble with my Google account.
I enjoy reading the comments as much as your posts! Really great!
ReplyDeleteLove the good and easy vibe that radiates from this site. Observation: I have also noticed that it seems to attract a "certain kind" of people. Mostly, the kind I like.
ReplyDelete~Nards
It was a great news for me that NP has presented new quotes, like so many others I am also a fan of Marty's so deep thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to list my favourites and they are:
"Experiences for wich there are no words get along fine without them."
"Gravity is true for matter but not for the spirit."
Thank you so much Marty, you are really a wonderful thinker.
This one right here does it for me. Very well said.
ReplyDeleteLet every breeze draw you out of yourself.
I always enjoy reading what the more intelligent (nothing profound) have to say. Enjoy your day!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Very profound.
ReplyDeleteYou have a brilliant mind. Every aphorism can bring out a realization or remind something significant in life, or define life itself. Everything is profound in your posts!
ReplyDelete"When in doubt, leap. One needs a little courage to live." - hmmm, I'm doing good just to take a step usually!
ReplyDelete"Everything is real when it happens and a dream afterwards." - what a beautiful description of nostalgia!
"You know you're on the wrong track if you're thinking too much." I must always be on the wrong track then! :)
My pick: "Put on a red nose and baggy pants when the circus is in town."
ReplyDeleteMarty, one line of few words has all the power. Every!
It is always pleasure to read you!
Absolutely brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteLots of good, thought provoking quotes here! Pardon while I rummage through pockets for a couple cents to throw in....
ReplyDelete*You know you've hit bottom when things get worse faster than you can lower your standards. (Unknown)
*It is not clear that intelligence has any long term survival value. (Stephen Hawking)
"A blind man sees with his cane, like all the rest of us."
ReplyDeleteThat is perhaps the truest thing I have read in a long time. Thanks for prodding my mind and sending more thoughts a-swirling, nothing!
I like these ones, and maybe will try to "remember" them :-):
ReplyDelete"When in doubt, leap. One needs a little courage to live."
"One must plant a seed and let "it" speak."
I am in a busy time at present, so I cannot check your page frequently, but surely do not forget at all...It's always nice to read your writing as usual...
Best wishes to you!
Indeed: Behind every mask, there is a face that have a story :) Keep it up :D ~ Hicham
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff...particularly the experiences one and the reasons one...
ReplyDeleteWell, as usual another great post full of wisdom! At the moment, the following clicked me the most:"No river could flow if it had to know its destination first."
ReplyDeleteNP: Your handle is such a falsehood. You are a truly profound and intimate thinker. I intend to visit yor sight often. You words are inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI am happy for you and the times you are experiencing.
ReplyDelete:-)
Reasons are invented, not found.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite ! But they are all good! You are great at coming up with them.. it's a joy reading! :)
Take care and much love,
Ingrid
Marty your amazing!! I love your aphorisms. "Everything is real when it happens and a dream afterwards." My friend and I recently had a conversation about this very particular thought..
ReplyDeleteIt is true how much of a dream things feel after the fact. You know they happened, but at the same time it feels like it was just a passing thought.
Life is an amazing thing...
Great thought provoking aphorisms..
Also, I would like to thank you for your kindness and beautiful words of encouragment. I am blessed by your friendship. Thank you
Blessings
Rev Deb
When in doubt, leap. One needs a little courage to live.
ReplyDeleteYou know you're on the wrong track if you're thinking too much.
These two are my favourite.
They remind me of one of my own favourites:
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Excellent words of wisdom - it all come down to attitude! I especially like this "if you want to set your life in order consider it already done"
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff! Thanks
I love reading you, and your take on politics which I got from your comment to Mal. A dose of your words is like a fresh breeze that ventilates my mind. I'm coming back for more.
ReplyDeleteas great as ever! keep em coming :D
ReplyDelete'when in doubt, leap'
ReplyDeleteThough this line may seem antagonistic at first, I get the meaning that lies behind it. Too much worry, anxiety and dwellings keep us frozen in thought.
Leap by following your insticts. Thank you for your words of wisdom. They speak clearly to me :)
Good stuff. You seem to have a good grip on both head and heart--a great place to be and a good combo to share with the world.
ReplyDeleteMany blessings and thanks for connecting with me.
I look forward to more of your posts...you have a wonderful way of sharing such eloquent thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day...

do you write these or collect them? they are simply awesome. can i share them with my friends? would you like me to use your blog address in that case?
ReplyDeleteHi Marty,
ReplyDeleteFinally I got here! It has been a while. =P
I am glad to read your peaceful contemplating since I don't participate into BC discussions. As always I like your style and grace in words and life view. =)
I really like the last aphorism (it is real!) and the one about river & destination. =)
Ekaterina
These aphorisms aren’t half bad! It’s the brief, condensed twists of linguistic spaghetti like these “poetic snippets of wisdom” that does the job in the end: to fill-out the vacant spaces within one’s appetites and desires. Now, please be so kind as to go to: http://swamiraj.wordpress.com/ , where you may, or may not, be suitably enlightened for your subsequent choice of efforts…
ReplyDeleteThat is really inspirational.Makes you think! I like "Gravity is true for matter but not for the spirit" the most~
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteI have several favorites, but my MOST favorite is:
You know you're on the wrong track if you're thinking too much.
Great writing! I felt a lot of emotion coming out of your words.
ReplyDeleteI love your style! Complimenti, Lisa
ReplyDeleteHello, I really like your poem, life is a difficult way, you must try to be simple if you have that choice (sometimes we havent that choice), a little of fantasy is good in life like you say about unicorns, no matters if you are thinking in real world for must of the time. Let be yourself like the river, like the seed, the world is a strange place and many times without sense, live and breath, dream and keep walking with that dreams. A hug.
ReplyDeleteMario.
well pretty much True*
ReplyDeletePeace*
"You know you're on the wrong track if you're thinking too much." Hell yeah!
ReplyDeleteHave you read the Truth of Masks by Oscar Wilde?
ReplyDeleteWith Google help, I read these pills of wisdom, compliments ...Very profound.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit, :-) with sympathy, Lisa
When in doubt, leap. One needs a little courage to live.
ReplyDeleteThen one must need to leap of faith hehehe Soren Kierkegaard
I am waiting for more pearls of wisdom from you, NP.
ReplyDeleteHi Nothingprofound! I thought I'd stop by and read some of your wonderful lines of wisdom for I so need them today. It's been hectic so I need soothing words. I thought I'd share this little quote with you which I have on my main website. I love it and it makes me smile. So I hope it will make you smile too. :)
ReplyDeleteThe best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
-Robert Louis Stevenson
i really enjoy reading your blog.
ReplyDelete"You know you're on the wrong track if you're thinking too much." --- :D
nice post. enjoyed reading it.
ReplyDeletegood list - the first one got me thinking right away. waiting for the next list - thanks
ReplyDeleteI wrote something once about daring to be brave, about how sometimes that can be it's own reward (& astonish those around you so greatly that it just might work, after all.) Nice blog--keep up the good work. :)
ReplyDeletewise words as usual with hidden meaning
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as usual!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorites this time:
"Behind every mask there is a face and behind that a story."
and
"I like both:unicorns and horses."
Your words are a delight for the soul.
Thank you for the beautiful aphorisms, although this particular one:
ReplyDelete"Reasons are invented, not found."
May or may not be true depending upon what you mean by a reason.
I enjoyed reading your blog for the first time. My favorite -"Gravity is true for matter but not for the spirit. Recently my spirit began to soar as I created music, added to a video of my artwork and uploaded to YouTube. It was a leap of faith, a big change for me in my quiet world.
ReplyDeleteAnother great set of words of wisdom! thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOk this made my day. Absolute favorite line
ReplyDeleteBehind every mask there is a face and behind that a story.
This is so very true. The old me thought masks were necessary to protect yourself but me today thinks that people wear masks to hide from the realness of the world and project a false self that they think others want.
Interesting poetry, I enjoy listening to different types of poetry this is what makes us enjoy various types of content.
ReplyDeleteI like unicorns!
ReplyDeleteI also try to never over-think things because when I do I always end up doing the wrong thing.
Nice to read someone take something it would take me 15 words to express, do it in 9!!
ReplyDelete"One must plant a seed and let "It" speak"
I will be coming back to glean more of your intriguing writings.
Best to you!
That is beautiful! Thank you for sharing yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvelous blog!!! Love all the great vibes here. :D
ReplyDeleteHave a super day!
JJ
That one "behaind avery mask..." is perfect.
ReplyDeleteyes, reasons are invented.. as are most assumed concepts in "reality" as seen through human consciousness perspective.
ReplyDeleteIn Buddhism we call this "Sangkhara"
Hi great literary work. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteBehind every mask there is a face and behind that a story.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. This line is so real in everyday life.
A blind man sees with his cane, like all the rest of us.
The cane I wonder... with a very dirty mind. ;-)
A lot of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteI must admit however that I've never looked good in a red nose. ha!
I would add only one note from my personal stash.
Galoshes were made so that you can jump into rain puddles.
Never forget to jump in the puddles.

Pretty thoughts. I liked your comment on the BC thread, as well, about posting without concern for traffic. I invite you to visit my blog, too, when you get a moment.
ReplyDelete~Donna
I loved it! SPecially this line, "When in doubt, leap. One needs a little courage to live." It's true. It means a lot to someone who has a life like mine.
ReplyDeleteI like this one the best: One must plant a seed and let "it" speak.... :)
ReplyDeletegood posts..
ReplyDeleteloved reading the blog entries
Great post!!! This is my favorite:
ReplyDeleteOne must plant a seed and let "it" speak. I want to plant a forest. :D
Cheers! JJ
I like: If you want to set your life in order consider it already done.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree!
great post. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThese are stunning and very profound. Hard to choose a favourite, but one that I will think about and which I am feeling so much is:
ReplyDeleteEverything is real when it happens and a dream afterwards.
henry
What a lovely find today. I am especially cheered by:
ReplyDeleteIf you want to set your life in order consider it already done.
Wonderful. Now I can get on to other things...
I have bookmarked your blog...
it's not a tantalizing obsession.. I was only kidding.
ReplyDeleteLOL..
thanks for taking your precious time to visit my blog.
As usual nothing less than excellent, and as usual I will have to return a few times to fully appreciate them all.
ReplyDeleteThere are some words that I didn't know the meaning of it.
ReplyDelete
